The client – a company active in the area of photovoltaics in Slovakia – planned to develop a photovoltaic (PV) power plant near the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv. Because it was its first development outside of the domestic market, it requested the verification whether the investment plan was technically and economically feasible at the given location. The feasibility study was also to provide the client with convincing reasoning concerning the project for prospective partners and investors.
The client provided the necessary input data:
We evaluated the selected site location in terms of long-term climate data of solar radiation. Based on an analysis of the meteorological data, we produced a theoretical model of the PV plant. Using the model, we established the estimated annual production and the production efficiency of both technological solutions of the power plant taking into account the purchase price of the solar power in Bulgaria.
The feasibility study confirmed the technical and economic feasibility of the project at the selected location. Based on results of the economic analysis and assessment of other risks, one of the selected technologies was recommended to the client as being more favourable. The feasibility study delivered to the client in the form a presentation served for introduction of the project to a Bulgarian partner, with whom the client consequently entered into a project cooperation agreement.
